Connecting to an LDAP database



When you launch LDAP Explorer Tool, use connect button menu to open the connection dialog.




The following dialog appears :





You can create a configuration by clicking the “New...” button. If you do not use this button, your configuration will not be saved.

You can delete a configuration by clicking the “Delete...” button.


The fields in this dialog have the following meaning :


Server : an LDAP server name or IP address (ex 192.168.0.1 or ldap.org.fr)

Port : the servers LDAP port (default LDAP servers port is 389)

Root DN : the root entry you want to connect to. This field can be leaved empty if you do not know the structure of the LDAP database

User : the user name you want to use to connect to the LDAP database. If you do not have one, you can connect as “anonymous” but will have restricted rights

Password : the password of the user you entered before. If you are using “anonymous” user, you should leave this field empty
